Advancing the human rights of refugees in South East Asia through increasing their access to and use of appropriately designed digital tools

We have just released the latest draft of our Working Paper on Key Principles and Implications for Policy, Practice and Public Awareness for advancing the human rights of refugees in South East Asia through increasing their access to and use of appropriately designed digital tools.

The paper outlines three key principles which emerged from the study:

  1. Efforts to recognise the legal status of refugees and advance their human rights should continue
  2. Digital tools should be designed in collaboration with refugee communities
  3. Digital tools should be designed with due regard for the safety and wellbeing of refugee communities

We examine cross-cutting policy implications in relation the role of language and literacy, and widening access to the internet; the implications for education, health services, and employment and enterprise. We conclude with a reflection on the importance of raising public awareness about the circumstances which have led to the presence of refugees in the country.
